Mission
As an academic magnet school, the primary mission of The Academy is to provide our students with a comprehensive academic preparation for the rigors of higher learning. The Academy’s mission includes raising the aspirations of each student, developing universally applicable problem solving techniques, acquiring technological skills, and instilling a lifelong passion for learning that includes a rich cultural arts experience. We are committed to upholding the Anti-Racism declaration of the School District of Philadelphia by ensuring that the conditions in our school enable each student to find success regardless of race, color, or gender.
Points Of Pride
- Palumbo's students have demonstrated achievement: 100% of the Class of 2020 Graduated and 100% of the Class of 2023 were promoted to 10th grade; Six Drexel Liberty Scholar Recipients; Poetry Team was the 2019 PYMP Poetry Champions (and 2018, 2016, 2015) ; District 12 Champions in Parliamentary Debate, Senate, and Public Forum Debate; 27 students participated in the Philly Marathon; 2019 Chess Individual Champion and Team finished 2nd in the Philadelphia Scholastic Chess Lague Finals; Girls Volleyball Team was the Public League Champions in 2019-20 (and 2018, 2017, 2015 & 2014)

Admissions Policy
Students must meet specific grades (A's & B's) and attendance marks (95%). Writing sample required.Accreditations and Honors
