Mission

Project Learn School is a dynamic and flexible K-8 learning community based on the core values of child-centered, progressive education and consensual decision-making.
Our small cooperative school is committed to maintaining an environment where parental voices join together with teachers and students to create meaningful academic experiences of personal and social learning. Each person has responsibility in the educational process and the governance of the school.
Through hands-on academic and artistic projects, we build on students' emerging interests and abilities in highly supportive multi-age groups both inside and outside of the classroom.
As a neighborhood school we utilize local resources to educate our children and open our doors through community outreach programs for both adults and children.

Points Of Pride

Each student is a member of a group that includes children of different ages and encourages cooperation and leadership skills. As a co-op, the school is unique in terms of how things are run. Every year, our graduating students participate in a service learning trip to Costa Rica. The students and families are directly involved in the planning and fund-raising aspect of the project. There is an annual spring musical by 10- to 14-year-old students. Our youngest students participate in Forest School once a week. All PLS students get to participate in citywide art projects such as MANNA and Dream Flags.
