Update Regarding ECE Profiles on GreatPhillySchools: As of September 1, 2024, GreatPhillySchools will no longer include Early Childhood Education (ECE) profiles on our website. This decision follows thorough consultation with key stakeholders across the city, including representatives from the School District of Philadelphia, the Public Health Management Corporation, and the City of Philadelphia.
Why Are We Making This Change?
The landscape of Early Childhood Education in Philadelphia is constantly evolving, and several new resources have emerged to better serve families. After discussions with our partners, it became clear that the recently launched PHL Pre-K website is a more comprehensive, up-to-date platform for families seeking quality childcare and pre-kindergarten programs. The PHL Pre-K website offers a deeper look into available childcare options, both publicly funded and private-pay seats, and is designed to grow and adapt based on the needs of Philadelphia families.
What Can Families Expect Moving Forward?
We are directing families to use the PHL Pre-K Finder, a user-friendly tool that allows you to search for high-quality childcare and pre-kindergarten programs across the city. Over time, we will continue to add and update resources on GreatPhillySchools, with plans for an ECE Corner in the next few months. This new section will offer families a variety of helpful tools, from infographics to videos, that will guide them through the process of selecting a childcare provider.
Our priority is ensuring families in Philadelphia have access to the most accurate, timely, and useful information, and we believe this shift will better support that goal.
