Mission

Imhotep is an African-centered science, mathematics and technology learning center whose mission is to provide a standards-driven, high-quality educational program for urban learners grounded in the Afrikan principles of MA'AT and the principles of Nguzo Saba. Imhotep aims to nurture lifelong learners who are valuable members of the community.

Points Of Pride

Members of National Honor Society -Advanced Placement courses -Dual-enrollment program with Community College of Philadelphia-10th and 11th-grade students complete the PSAT funded by the school-Active student government-Out-of-school-time enrichment program sponsored by the city of Philadelphia-Students in our STEM program participated in Temple University's MESA program to learn about computer programming, video game design, and robotics. -Students won second and third place in the citywide MESA Competition for creating a robotic prosthetic arm. -Computer lab available for student use before and after school daily.-Onsite College and Career Center.-A robust offering of performing arts programs: music, dance, art, African drumming, and theater. -Acquired new chrome books to support a 1:1 technology program for all students.-We offer free Saturday classes to the community through our Communiversity Program during the fall and spring.-Partnership with Sankofa Freedom Academy Charter School.-Our football team was the first public school from Philadelphia to win the PIAA AAA State Championship. Our Track Team Placed in States. Our Basketball Team won States. We have Cheer and Majorette Dancing. We have virtual reality learning-based headsets, STEM Labs, Launch Pad Coding Certificate, and Lab Tech Programs. Our Director of STEM was recognized as the Philadelphia Eagles, Teacher of the Year for the 2021-2022 School Year.

Admissions Policy

Lottery admit school. Applications accepted October thru February for Lottery eligibility. Rolling admissions offered from Waiting List throughout the school year as slots become available. Applications submitted outside of the Lottery application window are placed directly on the Waiting List.
