Mission

Samuel Gompers encourages critical and independent thinking, moral integrity, creativity and partnership with parents and the community so our students are prepared and supported in becoming lifelong learners. Gompers' motto is "A great place to BE somebody!"

Points Of Pride

Gompers has a before- and after-school care community-based organization called United Parents for Successful Children (UPSC).--Gompers has a partnership with St. Joseph's University that includes Big Brothers Big Sisters, student volunteers and staff supports.--Gompers has a school newspaper called the Tiger Times.--Gompers has a library fully staffed by WePAC (West Philadelphia Alliance for Children) volunteers who hold classes and circulate books weekly.--Gompers has an excellent special-education program highlighted by autistic support for grades K to 8.

Admissions Policy

Students must live within designated catchment boundaries; students may apply to a school(s) outside of their neighborhood and will be considered via lottery based on a available space.

Accreditations and Honors

(2014) Received $5,000 in school supplies from Target and signed a large red baseball thanking teachers that will be in the 2014 Major League Baseball All-Star game; (2013) Received a $15,000.00 grant from Target to improve the Library; (2012) Recieved "Autonomous Status"; (2011) Received a Keystone Award for having made AYP for 2 consecutive years; (2011) Partnered with WePAC to have a fully run library; (2010) Awarded student Weighted Funding as a Vanguard School; (2008) Received Keystone Award for having made AYP for 2 consecutive years; (2008) Received a Target Library Makeover
