Mission

TECH Freire Charter School provides a college-preparatory learning experience specializing in computer science and entrepreneurship with a focus on individual freedom, critical thinking, and problem solving in an environment that emphasizes the values of community, teamwork, equity, and commitment to peace. TECH Freire offers students the power to build their future.

At TECH Freire we believe that education is the great equalizer and the means by which we can and will unapologetically battle the racial inequity that has plagued our students and families for generations. We believe that action equals equity; therefore, we strive each day to take action. We take action by providing a robust learning experience for students. We take action by ensuring our students are taught the fundamental technology skills necessary to thrive in the 21st century. We take action by educating the whole child; emphasizing the values of non-violence and community through rich extracurricular programming. At TECH Freire, action equals equity.

Points Of Pride

TECH Freire’s rigorous college-preparatory curriculum is designed to ensure that every Freire student graduates with the credits required for acceptance at any top college in the US.

This includes four years each of English, math, science, and social studies, as well as three years of language study. In addition to these intensive requirements, we offer a variety of courses that engage students deeply with their learning and bring to life connections between students’ classwork, their communities and real-world issues.

Our academic program provides students with real-life hands-on experiences and integrates technology skills and tools into rigorous traditional liberal arts courses to ensure all students’ depth and breadth of learning. We call this approach to curriculum tech-integration. Through the integration of technology and the maker spaces into our curriculum, we push the rigor of our academic program and the expertise of our academic teachers into the maker space, and bring the inventive ethos of making, as well as the creativity and skill of our marker space-focused teaching staff, into the classroom.
