The Workshop School
Mission
We envision graduates who value learning and growth, build community, and know how to shape their lives and our world.
Based in the West Philadelphia, The Workshop School is a project-based high school that prioritizes educating the whole student. Rather than relying solely on traditional teaching methods, Workshop takes a project-based approach to learning, allowing students to gain knowledge and hands-on experience through a variety of immersive projects. Our curriculum is centered around real-world contexts and career pathways, with the goal of equipping students with the skills and knowledge to pursue authentic careers and lives upon graduation.
Points Of Pride
Workshop students come to school and graduate prepared for their future! Almost all of our 11th graders complete internships (in a wide range of fields), and about a third of our 11th and 12th graders complete college courses with CCP or other post-secondary partners.
In past years, our students designed Escape Rooms, ran a public symposium on mass incarceration, entered robotics competitions, built a recording studio, wrote culturally relevant children's books, built furniture for a local high school, learned how to grow and cook healthy food, shot and produced digital memoirs, created and pitched nonprofit business plans, and repaired donated cars to graduates of Youthbuild Charter School.
Students enrolled in our automotive CTE programs (automotive technology and autobody collision repair) have completed interships with the Department of Fleet Services, Philadelphia Parking Authority, and Pacifico Ford. Graduates have gone on to work with Honda and Toyota dealerships, as well as SEPTA. Our students have some of the highest scores on the NOCTI exam!!
Admissions Policy
The Workshop School accepts students from across Philadelphia. There are no academic admission requirements. Students should understand that we are a hands-on, project-based school. The students who are most successful in our environment are eager to explore interests and passions, willing to collaborate, and able to persist through challenges and setbacks.Accreditations and Honors
Our project-based approach has received national recognition including being honored by President Obama at the White House. See our media archive for details.
