The mission of Young Scholars is to provide a personalized middle school education that challenges, engages and prepares all students to passionately pursue their dreams and lead a life of active citizenship.

Young Scholars (YSCS) has been ranked as the city's #1 Charter Middle School for over 5 years and achieved the status of the #1 Middle School in the Philadelphia in 2015 according to the School Progress Report. YSCS was recognized as the Philadelphia highest performing high-poverty charter school in Pennsylvania in 2015 according to the PA School Performance Profile, and continues to be recognized as a top-tier Middle School.

Admissions Policy

Students applying to Young Scholars CS must live within the city limits of Philadelphia, and a simple application must be submitted on the student's behalf. The application can be found on Apply Philly Charter for the 2019-20 school year.
