Mission

YouthBuild Philadelphia Charter School's mission is to empower young adults (18-20 year-olds) to develop skills and connect to opportunities by fostering an environment of love, support, and respect for their whole person. Students graduate high school and successfully transition to college and career as critically conscious leaders, committed to positive change for themselves and their communities.

Points Of Pride

1. Through the use of restorative practices, the school has a supportive school culture.
2. The school deeply values the role of service. All enrolled students are part-time AmeriCorps members.
3. The school places a strong emphasis on transition and success after YouthBuild.

Admissions Policy

Applicants must complete an application, an on-site information session, an intake session, and participate in a one-week Mental Toughness Training period in August in preparation for the school year. Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 20 on the first day of school.

Accreditations and Honors

Granted charter in 1997, renewed 2006, 2011 and 2016; in 2006 the Gates Foundation commended YouthBuild for its personalized school culture; in January of 2009, YouthBuild received a Harris Wofford Award for Active Citizenship
